Editor’s Note: This article is an expanded and updated version of the original which has been published since 2012 in various alternative outlets (the 2012 version in English, German, Dutch and French; the 2014 version in English). It traces the ongoing demographic displacement of the French people based upon official French medical data as these are published. As of 2015, when the latest figures were released, almost 40 percent of newborns in mainland France are of non-European origin and their number is steadily rising. The article uses sickle cell data to draw its conclusions. This is extremely relevant in regards to the upcoming French elections.

Screening of sickle cell disease in newborn babies in mainland France from 2005 to 2015; the values are per region and in percent of the total number born that year. As this genetic illness is mostly confined to non-Europeans, primarily Africans, the ethnic origin of newborns can be derived from the data (see below for sources; map composed by FDesouche). |
Geographically one finds France in Europe, but demographically the country is swiftly drifting towards Africa as recent data indicates. France, unlike America, does not hold censuses on ethnicity, but follows instead its ideal of the color-blind republic. This, obviously, does not change one bit the ethnic reality on the ground, but it certainly helps to keep its citizens in the dark about it. Little in the way of official figures exists on the size of the immigrant population and the native French — until recently. Pertinent material has come from quite an unexpected source, medicine, and it has all the hallmarks of allowing us an adequately precise and unbiased look into the strong growth of the non-White population in France.
National Screening Program for Sickle Cell Disease
Since 2000, the country has conducted a nationwide program of neonatal screening for sickle cell disease (SCD). SCD is a genetic disease by and large peculiar to non-European people. However, due to Third World immigration it has become the most common genetic disorder in today’s France. To provide early medical treatment for the illness, the French public health authorities have defined risk groups which are liable to screening. These comprise primarily people of African origin, from North and sub-Saharan Africa as well as ethnic Africans from the Americas. A second risk group consists of persons with a Near or Middle Eastern background (Turkey, the Arabian peninsula and the Arab lands in between) and from the Indian subcontinent. The rest is made up of migrants from a comparatively small coastal rim in Southern Europe, namely Portugal, Southern Italy, Greece and the isles of Corsica and Sicily.
Newborn babies in France are defined as “being at-risk for SCD when at least one parent originates from a risk region” where the responsible gene is prevalent (Bardakdjian-Michau et al., 2009, p. 31). This national screening policy based on the ethnic origin of the parents permits us to see the full extent of the rapidly expanding demographics of the non-White French population:
In 2000, 19 percent of all newborn babies in mainland France had at least one parent originating from the regions above (J. Bardakdjian-Michau, 2012, p. 314). This share rose to
- 28.45 percent in 2007,
- 31.5 percent in 2010,
- 34.44 percent in 2012,
- 35.7 percent in 2013,
- 37.2 percent in 2014,
- 38.85 percent in 2015 (see for all these years sources below).
The 2015 percentage corresponds to 295,951 out of the 761,841 babies born that year. In other words: within fifteen years, the number of (partly) extra-European babies has doubled on mainland from about one fifth to two fifth.
The medical survey provides us with even more data, namely a breakdown per region (see map above). We learn that in 2015, a staggering 73.4 percent of newborns in the Ile de France, essentially greater Paris, descended from non-Europeans. In the southern Languedoc-Roussillon region, to give another example, the non-White share was 41.91 percent. The lowest share was recorded in the Bretagne, 8.13 percent. In every single of the nineteen areas of metropolitan France the portion of immigrant babies rose between 2005 and 2015.
The Figures Hold Water
What can be said against the accuracy of these figures? Not much actually, they seem to hold water to all appearances. While the authors of the study point out that the screening of newborn babies is not applied universally, they regard missed cases to be “relatively infrequent”. These would, in any case, not reduce, but increase the share of non-White babies among the total population.
This leaves the Southern European immigrants, who are not independently accounted for in the statistics, as the dark horse in the equation. How high is their share in the studied risk group? Do we have to significantly adjust the number of non-White babies downwards to accommodate their share in the risk group? I would argue by far not enough to blur the trend: although descendants from Italian people reportedly number into the millions in France, most of them have immigrated generations ago. The screening, however, was employed in my understanding only for babies whose father and/or mother had immigrated from one of the risk zones, thus covering recent immigration only.
The authors of the medical survey themselves leave no doubt as to what they view the main cause of the rise of sickle cell disease. They squarely attribute it to the rise of African immigration or, in their words,
as a result of population growth in African-Caribbean regions of overseas France, and now immigration essentially from North and sub-Saharan Africa to mainland France (Bardakdjian-Michau et al., 2009, p. 31).
Now my concern here is not with the spread of sickle cell disease as such, but with the sharp demographic decline of White France which these figures reflect and the impossibility to be allowed to talk about it in Europe’s current multiculturalist climate.
Being a political scientist by profession I look with envy on how freely these medical scientists, biochemists and geneticists, not burdened by the expediencies of political correctness and apparently completely unaware of the huge demographic implications of their findings, can go on discussing to what presumably amounts to the profoundest demographic change of France since the Frankish conquest and the creation of the French state itself.
The French Republican Self-defeat
It’s stunning: One only needs to substitute their discussion of the “screened babies” with “African-Oriental newborns”, take a look at the SCD target population map of France they provide, and get a fairly complete picture of what enlightened France has been persistently denying to communicate to its people: that White France, the original France, the France which made France, is being phased out, making place for a hybrid Eurafrican society.
Mass immigration has evidently become a self-defeat for La Grande Nation. One could argue that even for the immigrants themselves it produces diminishing returns: the more White France disappears, the less the country retains its character which had attracted all these immigrants in the first place.
When I said fairly complete, this was not entirely correct. In fact, the demographic situation of White France is even worse for two reasons: first, the discussion has not touched so far its overseas departments which have always been home to an ethnically diverse population. Over four-fifths of their newborns, the medical survey tells us, were subjected to SCD testing in 2015. By including this number, 39,409 babies, the share of non-White births increases from 38.85 percent for mainland France to 41.45 percent in all of France (335,360 out of 809,078 newborns). Second, the screening figures do not cover all those extra-European immigrant groups to the mainland which do not have a genetic disposition to SCD, like East Asians and Hispanics. Adding their birthrates further reduces the White French share of the total by an unknown margin.
The bitter irony is that these population figures suggest that France has been more radically changed by its former colonies than it ever changed the face of them. Unlike its maritime rival Great Britain, France was never a successful colonizer. Its only permanent settler colony of note is Québec to which it sent no more than 10,000 settlers. If there is a “revenge of the colonies”, as the White guilt trip of Western leftist thought has it, then France certainly gets more than its share back.
France, like America, has always prided herself as champion of modern, “culture-neutral” Republican values to the whole world. Her historical achievement in spreading enlightenment around the globe is undeniable. But her lighthouse role has blinded her for the negative effects at home: it never fully realized that the total propagation of these ideals also gave rise to a culturally and ethnically gutted citoyen, someone dispossessed from his own roots and denied the right to have them. It never quite understood that a strong sense of cultural and ethnic identity is not the enemy of democratic values, but rather its necessary and natural complement. It forgot that the French Revolution, its gift to the democratic world, was not created in an ethnic and cultural vacuum but by people with an identity and history — a White European identity.
It may therefore be no coincidence that France, again like America, is among the first Western countries to fell demographic victim to its own negation of culture and ethnicity. In a way, history has come full circle: what France originally exported as an idea, the radically culture-blind republic, leaves her now helpless to come to grips with its own rapid de-Europeanization – the revolution devours its children, for good.
Addendum 2014: French Mass Media in Denial
The continuously rising share of non-White children in France as evidenced by the constantly expanding nationwide tests on sickle cell disease (SCD) in newborns has finally come to the attention of the French mainstream media. In a September 2014 article two journalists of the newspaper Le Monde, Alexandre Léchenet and Samuel Laurent, picked up the subject and attempted to refute the above figures as unsubstantiated. They fail at it completely, however, by confusing logical categories, misinterpreting statistical data and largely missing the subject altogether. The key question, in fact the only pertinent question here, is whether the data on sickle cell disease collected by the French health authorities accurately reflects non-White births in France. This question, though, was hardly directly addressed by the two. I will briefly outline their five counter-arguments and show why neither is valid or relevant here:
1. Léchenet & Laurent acknowledge that the French authorities conduct these tests for parents from the above risk regions which lie overwhelmingly outside Europe (mainly in Africa, but also the Middle East and territories with a substantial black populace like the Antilles and South America). Yet, they like to make the point that the disease is due to “geographic, not ethnic factors”. But this is merely a different label for the same phenomenon. Whether we call this risk group as coming from the continent of Africa or being of ethnic African origin is just semantics. The point is they are not from Europe, they are non-European immigrants.
2. Léchenet & Laurent argue that SCD is a “globalised” disease, but this is just another angle that aims to blur the ethnic character of SCD. Yes, SCD has been — mainly in the Western hemisphere — globalised, but the point is that this has happened through the migration of African people. It is prevalent where people with African origin have settled; it affects people with African DNA. This means that by looking at the results of the screening program, nationwide applied as it is in France, we can determine their share of newborns in French hospitals reliably.
3. Léchenet & Laurent claim that the figures of non-White births in France widely circulating on patriotic websites include the ethnically diverse overseas departments (DOM) and thus have to be lowered considerably. But this is not true. The French agency in charge, the Association Française pour le Dépistage et la Prévention des Handicaps de l’Enfant (AFDPHE), has been listing for years the SCD screening figures separately for mainland France and the DOM, as well as their aggregate (cf. p. 63 for the current data). It is invariably the figure for mainland France only which is cited prominently on these sites, giving rise to fears among ethnic French people about being replaced by foreigners. As of 2015, this figure is 38.85 percent for mainland France and 41.45 percent for all of France, and it has been rising sharply ever since the time of the inception of the screening program.
4. Léchenet & Laurent go on citing data from the national statistical institute INSEE, according to which only around 20 percent of the births in France are to “non-French”. However, they are comparing apples with oranges. INSEE does not gather data based on ethnicity, but exclusively on the criteria of citizenship. These 20 percent refer only to babies born on French soil with one or two parents who do not hold a French passport. This figure tells us nothing about the real ethnic ratio in French delivery wards because the French Republic traditionally observes the ius soli where millions of Maghrebians and other non-European immigrants are naturalized upon birth. Léchenet & Laurent might object that the number of non-French residents is all the French need to know. But an increasing number of French people do want to know about the population distribution by race and not just by law. INSEE does not provide this kind of information, but AFDPHE does, if only unwittingly so.
5. Léchenet & Laurent further cite an estimate by the Institut national d’études démographiques (INED) which holds that currently about one fourth of the French people have a migrational background in the sense of having at least one grand-parent from abroad. They list a number of “immigration waves” by various European peoples to France and conclude that, in the light of this figure, speaking of an “autochthonous population” makes little sense. Again, they miss the point. The rising popularity of the French websites they castigate and the increasingly widespread concern about the Grand Remplacement amply demonstrate that French people do not easily equate current African-Oriental with past or present European immigration. The French evidently do not worry about being overwhelmed by people going by the slightly foreign names of Jean-Paul Belmondo, Lino Ventura or Louis de Funès. But they do seem to be worried about the impact of immigrants from beyond European civilization like Mohammed Merah, Mehdi Nemmouche and Dieudonné M’bala M’bala.
The question is will the mainstream media address these concerns as they are or will it forever continue to shift the subject by miscategorizing ethnic French interests in terms of vacuous passport possession statistics.
Addendum 2017: American Alternative Media Awakening to the Subject
In the meantime the English-language dissident media has picked up the subject. Guillaume Durocher in the Occidental Observer and recently Steve Sailer in Takimag arrive at the same bleak conclusion and consider the figures as a roughly reliable indicator of the Grand Remplacement, not necessarily down to the exact percentages but in the order of magnitude. The second round of the French presidential elections on Sunday will be thus one of the last chances for the French people to stop and reverse the displacement process until the quickly growing cohorts of young Afro-Orientals come into voting age and form powerful ethnic voting blocks. The window for political solutions is closing fastly in France.

Not to worry, guys. Richard Spencer assures us that France can absorb all of those Muslim blacks and still be white. It’s only a problem if it’s 50% black.
Spencer’s plan for a “white ethnostate” in America is to absorb millions of mulattoes and mestizos. When blacks say “where the white womenz at” Spencer says “right here, sir, join Alt Right, we’ll turn ya white!” Let’s not be puritans about it!
Alex Jones says it’s okay if France becomes a sickle-cell-infested Caliphate as long as they believe in freedom and buy his supplements. “Skin cula don’t matta!”
Warning: «almost 40 percent of newborns in mainland France are of non-European origin» – This map does not take in account other non-white newborns from origins without risk of SCD.
Good read.
Blackpilling, but good.
Not to put too fine a point on it, Marine Le Pen got trounced today–about 2-1 (full disclosure, I was a contributor and a supporter of the FN). By 2022, those children born in 2005 will be 17 and by 2027, they’ll be 22 and voting. The demographic changes sweeping through France will become an electoral tidal wave making victory by an ethnonationalist party impossible. France as we’ve known it is, sadly and tragically, finished..
They make the enthnostate more likely.
This breaks my heart. There is no France without “the French” 🙁
I will never forget watching last year’s Euro Cup final and seeing the singing of the national anthems before the game.
France’s team was somewhere around 2/3 black and arab. As the cameras panned down the line, the white players were boldly and loudly singing with conviction. The radiating pride/patriotism was very evident. You could see in their eyes what an honor it was for them to represent their nation on such a stage, something they had probably dreamed of since the first time they kicked a ball.
… the black and arabian players, either did not even know the words, or just generally were looking annoyed and disinterested. It had a very tangible, forced, and uncomfortable energy to it – like they were just enduring it.
In the stands, it was much of the same. The white French fans were energetically screaming the lyrics. The black fans with French flags were just kind of looking around.
No one sees these interlopers as “French” — not even themselves. It is all just a sick joke that everyone goes along with. Because — it is a joke that this social experiment is working and is enjoyable for anyone subjected to such an unnatural arrangement. Even though this soccer game example is small and irrelevant, you can see the multicultural failure in such a stark way. They do not see themselves as French, because at their core that is not who they are.
And just like they patiently waited out the anthem, they will wait out the bloodlines of the white people they are replacing.
French Republic’s values – summarized in the “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity” motto – are undoubtedly repugnant to many here. It would be no loss if that political entity collapsed.
It is a state operating under the “values” of the weak, of those revolutionaries inspired by the Americans (and who would later inspire the Bolsheviks) – “values” that should have been long repudiated. The Vichy counter motto – “Work, Family, Fatherland” – was vastly superior to the French Republic’s pre-tribal nonsense that reset much of France’s progress. “Equality” between the naturally unequal? What drives one to think that because we are all born the same way that we must actually be the same? The breeds of one animal differ but the races of man do not!? And “Liberty” to do what exactly…?
The revolutionaries destroyed things too great for their understanding in the pursuit of foolish idealism, much like their Communist successors. And France has resultantly been ever more broken since – the revolutionaries purging each other off, the Paris Commune doubling down on the same wretched values until the army crushed them; radicals like Leon Blum, the PCF being the strongest of the Eurocommunists, De Gaulle betraying the French living in Algeria – all the way to their sheer paralysis in the face of millions of angry, desperate, ill-intentioned third-worlders (and the far left) who riot routinely, burning cars and attacking police – as though it has become a favourite pastime. And why not, when the French Republic is just so weak and commands no respect?
This Shakespearean quote could be applied to the revolutionaries of old – “The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones”. Indeed, where is the good that Robespierre and those of his ilk (if any at all) have done? Whereas the evil is easy to find – in France’s pathetic, grovelling weakness that spawns the utterly detestable, Blum, Mitterrand, Chirac – with Macron being the latest manifestation of that. They are a state in perpetual surrender – a pushover in the World Wars, and a pushover now.
“Libertay, Diversitay, and Cuckeray!”
I’m afraid France is over guys. They had a good run. So long to the croissant.
And that good French wine.
Whiie the 2010 to 2014 surge in newborn testing may be an artifact of the testing protcols and data collection, the underlying trend here is very disturbing, almost alarming. These are children being born in France! France is being transformed in a Euro-Arab-African country, with the Arabs and Africans clearly in the ascendancy, even without further immigration. Some kind of civil war along racial and religious lines, and the possible partitioning of France, seems inevitable.
The place will burn. And burn brightly…
The French are unarmed and unable to defend their country. My guess is white flight out of France is more likely. Not sure where they would go, though.
Whites should be seeking political solutions, but politics will not solve this. The only reason for seeking political solutions is to have access to government.
This is the end of the French Revolution … all people are the same, all races are the same, all religion is the same, all cultures are the same in value… When you think that you are not special and unique you have no base to save yourself with… you are doomed once ANY enemy comes in … The Left has the French Constitution and Law in such a framework that no Nationalists could ever use the law to fix things … only war will end Frances problems … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIWbKjQCq2A&t=281s
The French Revolution was an evil and disgusting event from the start.
I guess that clever Chinky who asked what he thought of the French Revolution said “to early to tell” has his answer/question answered. Calamity!
My comment at Takimag may be worth reposting:

So we’re looking at a majority of births being non-white ca 2025, about 15 years behind the USA, but unlike the USA the majority of those will be Muslim and considerably more hostile to the indigenous culture. With the majority of the population non-white ca 2065 and a non-white voting majority ca 2080, depending on turnout.
In theory changes in immigration & fertility could alter this, but demographic trends once begun tend to be remarkably stable. Temporary surges or falls in immigration rates & fertility rates are only likely to alter this by a few years.
In the UK in 2014 65% of births were white British, 10% white non-British (including Irish), and 25% non-white, putting Britain 10 years behind France and 25 years behind the USA.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3265633/Over-babies-born-UK-no-longer-white-British.html
So if the trajectory is similar, which seems likely, Britain is on course to a non-white majority ca 2075 and a non-white voting majority ca 2090. Somewhat earlier for England than for Britain as a whole.
I don’t think the indigenous French and British deserve to become a minority in their homelands, and I hope immigration and natal policy is changed, but in France it would take a complete immigration cutoff and equalising fertility rates within a few years, and in the UK just slightly longer, so I doubt this is possible. At the point when more children are born who are non-white than white the demographic replacement becomes effectively inevitable. Either the country eventually becomes non-white-majority (as welcomed by the Left), or civil war results in Balkanisation. Repatriation is possible in theory but I think unlikely to be attempted. Ethnic cleansing and civil war is possible in France, will likely result in Balkanisation as in Yugoslavia, though I suppose mass expulsion of French Muslims to Algeria is not completely impossible.
Whatever happens, the madness of the last few decades has doomed western Europeans to a grim future.
I often wonder, what if New Labour had never been elected. Before Blairs 1997 election, the pace of decay was really very slow, particularly outside of a few muslim ghettos. The white school age population between 1991 & 1997 dropped by about 1%. Over the last ten years its been falling by over 1% each and every year. All non-white groups other than Muslims had dropped to native fertility rates & Immigration to the UK between 1970-97 had been largely arrested.
I’m haunted by this, what if, what if New Labour had never existed.
Le Pen will get to work–assimilating millions of Africans into the French nationality.
There is no democratic solution to our problems. Now we must focus on building up local support, taking over institutions, disseminating propaganda, preparing for the coming struggle, and reawakening the racial consciousness of our people.
we need 1933 in the Weimar Republic or else
Yes. It would be nice to live in a white libertarian wonderland of no government and complete freedom, but that is a fantasy. We are at war, people. We are beset on all sides by anti-white psychopaths. A white dictator seems to be the best possible option at this point. Just look at what happens with Trump. Some jackass Democrat judge blocks everything he tries to do. Freedom has no value if that freedom is used to destroy you.
Any “Western” leader today across the political spectrum is only going to stem the tide at best and position us for a better fighting chance when all hell breaks lose. It’s not avoidable no matter how much we can theorize by sticking our heads in the sand. The majority of them calling our spaces “home” will NEVER leave us peacefully. Bribing them with gibs isn’t going to work when you have an impending economic collapse looming.
I get why people try to play the idealist part because the average joe can’t handle the hard truth, without of course a major shock (conflict) to their system, but it’s also deceitful as if a peaceful option can realistically be had. At the end of the day nature will take the same course its taken since the dawn of time and the time which man has forgotten natures laws.
We deserve this struggle because we played god in rejecting the natural order of the universe. That rubberband must snap back and then, and only then, will we leader come forth to pull us out of the mess that was started hundreds of years ago. It started with France and so too it must end with France.
We will push them into the sea!
